Presented by Millbrook Music Salon as part of this year’s International Piano Series, pianist Julia Hamos brings an evening of music that bridges Hungarian modernism and the expressive heart and elegance of the Austro-German piano tradition with works by Haydn, Mozart, György Kurtág, György Ligeti, culminating with Schumann’s Fantasie, one of the greatest musical pieces in the Romantic Era.

Julia Hamos

Pianist Julia Hamos is an American-Hungarian soloist and chamber musician active on major international stages. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Christopher Elton and at the Mannes College of Music in New York with Richard Goode, and worked closely with Sir András Schiff at the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin and the Kronberg Academy. Her training also included collaborations with Daniel Barenboim and György Kurtág.

Julia has appeared at venues including Wigmore Hall, Pierre Boulez Saal, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Liszt Academy in Budapest, Beethoven-Haus Bonn, the Köln Philharmonie, and the Luxembourg Philharmonie, and at festivals such as Verbier, Prussia Cove, Ravinia Steans Institute, Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, and Kronberg’s Chamber Music Connects the World. She has performed with artists including Tabea Zimmermann, Christian Tetzlaff, and members of the Kronberg Academy, and has appeared with orchestras including NOSPR Katowice and the Boulez Ensemble under Matthias Pintscher.

She has been featured on BBC Radio 3, Deutschlandfunk, and Bartók Rádió, and profiled by Gramophone magazine as an “Artist to Watch.” In 2024, Julia signed with naïve Records. Her debut album, Ellis Island (2025), received critical acclaim, including a review in Gramophone (review HERE)

She is represented by Felix Artists Management and serves as assistant to Sir András Schiff in his program for young pianists at the Kronberg Academy.
