This spring, Millbrook Music Salon begins its first partnership with the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, presenting Swedish guitarist Jacob Kellermann and Chinese violist Luosha Fang in a rare duo recital.
Their program connects Central Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, and the Mediterranean through music by Schubert, Britten, de Falla, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and Francisco Coll, including the U.S. premiere of Coll’s Sephardic Song for viola and guitar.
Presented by Millbrook Music Salon at the Cary Institute, the evening showcases the evocative and seldom-heard pairing of viola and guitar.

About the Artist
Jacob Kellermann
Leading Swedish classical guitarist Jacob Kellermann is one of the most visible and respected guitarists of his generation. He has released four albums on BIS Records—Gubaidulina: Repentance (2014), Schubert Sonatas (2018), Rodrigo, Harden & Coll: Guitar Works (2020), and Takemitsu: Spectral Canticle (2023)—each met with critical acclaim; his 2020 release received a Swedish Grammy for Best Classical Album, was named #1 Record of the Year by Dagens Nyheter, and was listed as a Diapason d’Or selection.
Kellermann has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras around the world, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Bielefelder Philharmoniker, Querétaro Philharmonic Orchestra, Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra, and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. He also performed at the official Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm, a distinction shared by only a select few Swedish musicians.
A dedicated collaborator with composers and ensembles, Kellermann has premiered concertos with Scandinavian contemporary music groups such as BIT20 Bergen and Norrbotten NEO and is co-founder of the Netherlands-based New European Ensemble, specializing in contemporary repertoire.
Kellermann studied in Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany, earning a Meisterklasse Diploma at the Hochschule für Musik in München. He regularly gives masterclasses and artist residencies internationally, sharing his expertise on performance practice, contemporary work, and guitar technique.
Luosha Fang (violin/viola)
Chinese-born violinist and violist Luosha Fang is a prizewinning soloist and chamber musician based in New York. She is a winner of Astral Artists’ 2013 National Auditions and the S&R Foundation’s 2015 Washington Award, and has also won 1st Prize at the 2019 Classic Strings International Competition (Vienna) and the 2018 Tokyo International Viola Competition.
Orchestral / solo appearances include performances as violin soloist with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, West Virginia Symphony, Bay-Atlantic Symphony, and the American Symphony Orchestra (including the U.S. premiere of Grażyna Bacewicz’s Violin Concerto No. 5). As a violist, she has appeared with the New Japan Philharmonic, Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra.
Fang has performed at major halls including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, Wigmore Hall, the Elbphilharmonie, and the Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid).
Her recordings include two commercial releases: Johannes Brahms: Quintets Op. 34 & 111 (Supraphon) and George Tsontakis: Unforgettable with the Albany Symphony Orchestra (Naxos). (A further album, Collective Memories, is announced for release in early 2026.)
Fang served as violist of the Pavel Haas Quartet (Prague) in 2021–22 and recorded with the ensemble. She is on faculty at the Bard Conservatory of Music (violin/viola).
